The Picolit Inventor


Azienda Agricola Tacoli Asquini - Le Grave At the beginning of the 19th century, the Earls of Asquini started their agricultural production in Cuccana, and the existing wine cellar was built in 1836. The Asquini family had a long-standing reputation in the field of agricolture in the 18th century, thanks to Earl Fabio Asquini; indeed, in the Fagagna mansion house, called "Nuova Olanda" (“New Holland”), he focused on studying and experimenting new cultivations, Specialising in the growing of prestigious vines which led to the creation of Picolit. Thanks to Picolit, the Earl of Asquini became well-known throughout Europe. In 1758 he ordered the production of wine bottles from Murano glass makers, and in the same year, the first series of 14 bottles was sold.
